BUDGET CALCULATOR

Irene Dy RN., AEPP, a Life Planner and Manager Candidate, shared her experiences as financial adviser.

She suggested a 50-30-20 rule when it comes to handling money.

Where in 50% of your money goes to your basic needs such as electricity, internet, transportation, rent, and food. While the 30% goes to your wants, then 20% goes to your emergency funds or life insurance, retirement funds and other investments.

The money you earn doesn't have to go to NEEDS all the time. As long as it is dealt with FIRST before everything else.

TIPS:

  • Money equals Time.  Is what you're buying worth the time you've spent to earn the money?

  • Can you live without what you want to buy?

  • THINK ABOUT WHY YOU NEED IT!

  • Have separate wallets or bank accounts for your needs, wants and emergencies.

  • Take note of your expenses. Review all your spendings.

  • Small purchases are scarier than big ones. Be wary of consistent purchases.

  • Use cash on hand to make you more conscious when you pay.

  • Delete shopping apps after getting what you need.
